So okay, I'm not quite as suave and debonair as Marvin is... but hey I ain't too shabby either. Well I figured that somewhere in my home page I should say a thing or two about me. Not that I'm trying to be conceited or anything, but it just seemed appropriate. I'll try not to get into where I've been or the things that I've done right here, but rather, what it is that makes me so uniquely me. As it stands right now I already have a web page for hobbies, interests and sports that I like. So it's everything else that will be here. You know, things like my favorite color, or my favorite foods, songs, movies, books etc. So lacking any idea of how to organize it all let me just begin by listing things:
- I'm 5'10", with blue eyes, short brown hair (I just got out of the Marine Corps), and have a fairly decent athletic build. I even have a couple pictures if you're so inclined.
- I like to run even now that I don't have to anymore. But I'm determined not to get fat and nasty like oh-so-many before me. People get out of the Corps and just plump up. You just don't realize how much regular exercise helps until it's too late.
- I'm a pretty nice guy and haven't ever been accused of being anything but too nice (or sweet, depending on who's saying it), which is just fine with me. I like to feel good about myself and the things I do and the way I treat others. :)
- I like Marvin Martian. Go figure. I bet you never would have guessed that, huh? But the girl I lust for is Jessica Rabbit. She's the curviest woman alive!
- I like to collect PEZ. You know, the little candy dispensers. I don't really remember how it started but I've got a nice little managerie going now.
- I also like to collect Hard Rock Cafe shot glasses from around the world. And I've done a bit of traveling in the Marine Corps and on my own so it makes for a nice little set.
- My favorite color is blue. And my favorite number is 2, although all too often I can't have 2 and I'm forced to pick something else. It usually ends up being 12 or 32 (ranked 2nd & 3rd most favorite numbers, respectively).
- My favorite foods are lasagna (by Kevin and Robin Crockett), chili relleno (by mommy), and blackened cat fish (by pops).
- My favorite book is by far and away "Starship Troopers" (Robert Heinlein). Please don't confuse this with the movie in any way. It says some cool things about the world, society and the military, that the movie doesn't even touch on. It's definitely worth the read.
- "Armour" by John Steakley and "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, would round out my top three list of books. All of them are very good, and "Armour" is particularly intense. You'll have a tough time putting it down.
- I also like Shel Silverstein's "Where the Sidewalk Ends", "The Light in the Attic", and "Falling Up". Not that I'm much on poetry, but I did grow up reading him in school and what can I say... I dig it.
- My favorite movie is Aliens (II). There's nothing like those Colonial Marines! They wonder why the other movies didn't do as well, and the answer is simple: they left out the Marines. They kick ass (well except for all the one that died).
- My favorite T.V. show is/was Seinfeld. I'll still be able to watch re-runs for the first time for a long time to come.... My roommate always seemed to have problems paying the cable bill, so I was constantly missing out.
- I like most all music, mostly Hip-Hop/R&B/Dance, and then whatever else comes along, except for country. As a matter of fact I've jumped from moving vehicles to get away from country music. but everything else is cool.
- I like the Hip-Hop/R&B dance scene. I'm not too shabby of a dancer, and I definitely like going out to nightclubs. Unfortunately I'm pretty shy about asking girls to dance, but always pleased is she that asks me to dance.
- I don't know how to play any musical instruments. I'd really like to though. I think the piano or guitar would be awesome but I can't sing and with either of those two the temptation is there. So maybe I'll go for a harmonica or something. One of these days....
- I like Gap jeans (they actually fit my body), Dockers, and Polo shirts. My roommate constantly tells me that I look too preppy. What can I say, I've been ruined by five years of the Marine Corps telling me how to dress. None-the-less, he spends the better part of his time trying to get me hip to the current fashions.
- I hate people who sit around all day long and watch silly talk shows. My mother has finally convinced me that there is a difference between say Opra and Jerry Springer. But I just assume let other people watch them to find out. Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of what happens on those shows is funny too. But I'd rather watch Talk Soup and get just the funny stuff as opposed to watching the whole thing and getting "caught up in it" as so many of my friends have.
- I don't like killing, maiming, mutilating, or otherwise torturing small animal. And I love my mommy! And I'll tell that to anyone... who's so intrigued as to read this far down into my page ; )
- I do like my computer and the internet... but I like the rest of my life more. I don't mind when other people use my computer, 'cause it means I'm not on it. And that means I'm doing real stuff. The virtual world is cool, and all kinds of cyber-fun, but the real world isn't something you watch on T.V., and it sure ain't on the internet!
Well at that I'll let you go. Unless you want to see other things that I like, the places that I've been, some of the things that I've done, or maybe if you want to look at my resume and give me a job before you go (also available in rich text format). But If not, it's been swell. I hope you enjoy the rest of my site. Shaka Bra.
